Square One Emerging Leaders prepares young adults for long-term careers in the skilled trades through hands-on workforce training, leadership development, and real-world construction experience.
Our programs equip individuals aged 16–24 with the skills, confidence, and industry connections needed to build meaningful careers, while empowering them to strengthen their communities.
We aim to strengthen communities by investing in people and equipping the next generation with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to address the affordable housing crisis while creating lasting economic opportunity.
The Challenge We Address
Across the country, and especially in cities like Memphis, communities face two challenges:
- A shortage of skilled construction and housing industry workers
- Limited pathways to stable career opportunities
These challenges are deeply connected. Communities need skilled workers to build and maintain housing, while young people need access to training that leads to stable employment.
